Agreed with Jordan on the fact that there is no such thing as "free parking" downtown -- it's important to businesses and all of us downtown to keep turning over those valuable and limited on-street spots out front of our offices and shops.

On the kiosks, I was just in Boulder, CO on a very cold, snowy day and had no problem using them - it was actually a help to be able to use my credit card. Also, as we try to open up more downtown sidewalk room for displays and outdoor tables/chairs/dining, this could be a good way to "create" space.

--- On Mon, 12/7/09, Michael Loftis <mloftis@wgops.com> wrote:

From: Michael Loftis <mloftis@wgops.com>
Subject: Re: [MissoulaGov] Parking Kiosks
To:

In the other accepted forms of payment most kiosks offer (over coins)? Cards (reloadable and otherwise) can be accepted by on-the-pole meters. I think some can even do bills (though I don't specifically recall seeing any). I'm betting the per unit costs for those meters are more than the
simple mechanical meters in use now. Reloadable (stored value) cards might even be an acceptable alternative to individuals who frequent the downtown area, obviously not so much so for tourists.
_______________________________________________
-----Please delete extra content when replying to messages------

Note: This list is NOT an official service of the City Of Missoula.
