In Boise, the DUI task force does not use video cameras. They audio
record field sobriety tests so the evidence presented is a recording of
the officer saying, "Oh, sorry. You didn't quite walk a straight line."
When someone is pulled over and their is suspicion of drinking and
driving, a special unit is called to do the testing.
As an incentive, Boise blocks off parking in front of the downtown bars.
Starting late in the evening, taxis line up. A ride home is not free
but it is inexpensive. The same could be done here with buses because
we have lots of buses. But it does not get you to your door. I don't
think it should be free. If you have the money to drink downtown, the
ride home should be factored in.
