Bob,
You are not quite correct on the height issue at the University. The
height is being lowered considerable more in the new zoning code. You can
currently build a 51 foot high building in the university even though the
"A Zone" states a 40 foot building. This is how it is done. You take the
allowed 40 foot height limit and increase it by 20% for having a 7:12 roof
pitch (or steeper) then measure the building using the modified height
method which allows an additional 3 feet to the maximum height. The total
height allowed = 40 + 8 + 3 = 51 feet. All of Missoula will now be
require to have more squished or flattened proportioned buildings with the
new code. (Much like the new buildings people have been saying they do not
like which have recently been added to the University.)
