Hello!

I wanted to let people know about the way the Environmental Protection
Agency (epa.gov) is leading the way on letting people have online access for
public comment and discussion on policies and regulations. I saw this
explained on CSPAN, and thought it was exactly what is needed to get a true
sense of citizen feedback. I thought maybe the Missoula City Council would
like to set something like this up. I think it would be GREAT!

Their system includes:

1. Download via data export of regulations in docket folders.

2. RSS feed available

3. Sharelink for User profiles of those providing comments, where people can
do social networking, i.e., share their facebook URL

4. A circular thread so users and lawmakers can come in and make
counter-feedback to other comments.

5. Public Citizen forums (the primary subjects initially revolve around:
“What do you want out of this site?”)

6. Document content management system

7. Some discussion features from the software Droople.

8. An introductory video, with an invite to take action, get involved,
provide comment.

9. A blog called regulationsgov

10. A twitter account

11. Silverlight
