Support a 3-lane Broadway for Sustainable Transportation
The W. Broadway Vision Plan is up for adoption by City Council this
Monday, July 28th, 7pm, in the council chambers (on Pine St. next to Sean
Kelley’s). The plan, crafted by strong citizen support over 2 years,
calls for more walking, biking, public transportation and local
businesses.
The plan also calls for changing the dangerous 4-lane roadway thru
downtown to a safer 3-lane roadway (Orange to Madison). A 3-lane roadway
means one lane in each direction with a center turn lane. This simple
change of paint on the road makes possible: bike lanes thru downtown, safe
and easy pedestrian crossings, smooth motor vehicle movements (left
turners would no longer clog the inner lane), and elimination of the
backup at Broadway/Orange.
Consider attending the meeting Monday night, or contacting City Council
with your thoughts.
