for all children is just one priority where Senators Obama and McCain
differ. Sen. Obama's proposal would require all children to have
health coverage, would expand eligibility for Medicaid and SCHIP and
would allow young people to stay on their parents' health coverage
until age 25. Sen. McCain would offer families a $5,000 tax credit to
purchase insurance, but the average annual premium for
employer-sponsored family coverage in 2008 was more than $12,500. Sen.
McCain is also proposing to tax employer-sponsored health benefits for
the first time ever in order to fund his health care plan.
Additionally, Sen. McCain's proposal does not specifically address
