DEC Update
February 13, 2009
Good Morning

Finally, the conference report has been released for the Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus) bill. The Congress still needs to vote on this conference report before the President can sign it into law.  Passage is expected today or this weekend.

The funding levels are listed below.

Note- The funds are to be released over two fiscal years and are in addition to the appropriated federal funds available to these programs.

Part C                          $500 million
Preschool 619              $400 million
Part B                          $11.3 billion

Preschool 619 has a separate funding level in the final bill.  The Senate version of the bill had required LEAs to spend 15% of their Part B level on Preschool Special Education.

We are continuing to review the report and will provide more updates later today.
