[Dec-kentucky] nominations for DEC officers

Dear KYDEC members,

It's that time of year again to hold elections for Kentucky DEC officers! We
are looking for individuals for two positions for the 2008-2009 year
(officers begin in July). These are:

 

President Elect: Duties include but are not limited to: assist with planning
meetings, assist with organizing professional development opportunities,
assist with all KYDEC activities as needed, and to serve as President the
following year. 

 

Children's Action Network (CAN) Coordinator: Duties include but are not
limited to: update KYDEC listserv members with advocacy related events,
communicate with DEC on advocacy and legal issues, distribute public
statements endorsed by DEC, and assist with all KYDEC activities as needed.
It is recommended that this individual commit to this position for three
years to become familiar with political issues and advocacy strategies.

 

All KYDEC officers attend quarterly officer meetings (via phone conference)
and a minimum of two member meetings per year (held at state conferences).
We work as a team to provide professional development sessions at state and
regional conferences, to distribute information via the KYDEC listserv, to
increase membership, and to distribute scholarship funds.

 

If you would like to nominate yourself or another individual, please email
Elizabeth McLaren at e.mclaren at moreheadstate.edu by June 2, 2008. Elections
will be held at the KYDEC meeting at the RTC Institute, June 9th, 12:00, in
the Lexington Conference Center (Thoroughbred Room 1-3). Conference
registration is not required to attend this meeting. You must be a current
DEC member to serve as an officer.
