CAN Action Alert: Immediate Action Needed on Medicaid Moratoria
We have just heard that the House leadership is considering eliminating the targeted case management rule, as well as the provider tax and outpatient rules from the supplemental bill. Their plan may be based, although we are not certain, on a view that they will not be able to generate sufficient votes to override a threatened Presidential veto.
Final decisions may be made by COB Thursday at the latest.
Please ask your network, especially those in California and Wisconsin, to call their members and ask them to urge Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Obey, and Representative George Miller to include the moratoria on the targeted case management rule in the supplemental appropriations bill. We have heard that Majority Leader Hoyer and Caucus Chairman Emanuel have been very supportive of keeping all moratoria in the bill.
You can access the telephone numbers of your members at CEC’s Legislative Action Center. <http://capwiz.com/cek/dbq/officials/>
If you get any feedback from these calls, please let us know.
