What a tremendous turnout! We had 20 individuals sign the roster at the Family Consortium Committee Reception on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 6:15-7:30. We had 33 individuals sign the roster on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 12:00-1:00 at the Family Consortium Committee Meeting and Luncheon, I want to take this opportunity to thank Cay (Ki) Garcia, the family liaison for the local planning committee of the DEC Conference in Albuquerque, NM. She worked very hard to welcome all of us by preparing the Family Hospitality Room and handling a myriad of other on-site tasks. Attached to this message are the notes from the "hot topics" discussion on "Sensory Sensitivity" held during the luncheon. There is a group who is interested in using the information we generated to develop a proposal for DEC*2010 - THE 26TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON YOUNG CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS & THEIR FAMILIES, October 14-17, 2010 Kansas City, Missouri, USA. There was considerable interest in starting a DEC Family Consortium Committee listserv. This will be an opportunity to share information pertinent to family issues and DEC. Our listserv is set up and DEC Director of Member Services, Bethany Morris, subscribed all our emails to the list. To post a message to the list, just send an email to dec-family-committee at dec-sped.org. Your message will be delivered to all the current subscribers. If a subscriber wants to post a message to the list, you are free to. You just have to use the email address that is subscribed...otherwise the list won't know who you are and will reject your messages. Let me know if you have any questions! Hope to hear from you soon!
