[Dec-advocacy] Request for Input on Proposed Comprehensive Plan for IDEA Part D National Activities

The DEC Governmental Relations Committee is requesting input from DEC
members regarding the Department of Education's request for public comment
on the Proposed Comprehensive Plan for IDEA Part D National Activities.
Below is a description of the Comprehensive Plan, provided by CEC, with the
link to the full plan. Also attached is a PDF version of the plan. Please
submit any comments, suggestions, questions, to Bonnie Keilty, DEC
Governmental Relations Chair, at bakeilty at uncc.edu by December 20, 2006. The
Governmental Relations Committee will synthesize the comments into a
response from DEC.

The Comprehensive Plan will assist in the implementation of activities
authorized under IDEA Part D, subparts 2 and 3 (Personnel preparation,
technical assistance, model demonstration projects, dissemination of
information and supports to improve results for children with disabilities).
CEC will be issuing a formal response to the Department. You may access the
Comprehensive Plan by visiting:

 The Comprehensive Plan addresses the following (IDEA Part D, subparts 2 and
3):
 
- Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with
Disabilities
 
- Technical Assistance, Demonstration Projects, Dissemination of Information
and Implementation of Scientifically Based Research
 
- Parent Training and Information Centers and Community Parent Resource
Centers
 
- Technology Development, Demonstration, and Utilization; Media Services;
and Instructional Materials
 
- Studies and Evaluation
