  Session: DEC Governmental Relations Committee and Children's Action 
Network (CAN):
  Brown Bag Lunch
Time: 12:45 PM - 1:45 PM
Room: Forum, Third Floor
Presenters: Diana LaRocco
Description: This session will combine a facilitated discussion of 
state-level advocacy efforts and technical assistance for Children's 
Action Network (CAN) Coordinators.
Special Note: Beverages will be served.

Session: Advocacy and You: The Basics
  Time: 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM
  Room Changed to Alexander's on the 23rd floor of the main building, 
from Salon III room in the Executive Tower of the Portland Hilton
Presenters: Diana LaRocco and Deborah Bruns
Description: Practitioners are in a unique position to encourage change 
on behalf of young children and their families. This interactive 
session will provide participants with basic information about how to 
advocate for a position or a cause that is important to them and to 
express their views to elected officials.

the 109th Congress and the Departments of Education and Health and 
Human Services, FY2006 funding levels, and current issues related to 
IDEA.
